Be the Alpha...

Dictators of the world, unite!

Communicator of the Week Award goes to the Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In this week's much-anticipated summit between President Trump and President Putin, the world was watching to see whether Trump would make good on his promise to pressure Putin into a peace agreement or at least a ceasefire with Ukraine.

Spoiler alert: He didn't.

Instead, Putin pretty much dominated proceedings, reestablished himself on the world stage, and came away having given no commitments or concessions.

From their first minute together to the moment they parted, Putin took control of the stage and the narrative, even as early as their first handshake.

Notice how Putin ensures that his hand is placed palm down on top of Trump's (little 😁) hand, putting him in the dominant position.

He pretty much maintained that upper hand throughout the summit, speaking first at the press conference, rambling incoherently at length, and then walking out without taking any questions.

It was the consummate alpha male performance that communicated one message: I am in charge!

This will have murderous consequences! 😩

Communication is not just about what you say, but how you say it.

You do not need to be a murderous tyrant to take command.

Project yourself with authority. Speak up, make eye contact, adopt a confident posture, and take charge whenever you can.

The only difference between an Alpha and everyone else is that Alphas act with unwavering belief in themselves. That's it.

But now they are in government in Kent County Council, they...

In his seminal work on the art of rhetoric, Aristotle identified that there were 3 cornerstones of persuasion: Logos (the use of logic), Pathos (the appeal to emotion), and Ethos (the credibility and character of the speaker). Communicator of the Week Award goes to US President Donald Trump for the considerable part he played to secure the tentative Gaza peace deal. You may (as many do) consider Donald Trump to be an unpredictable, unprincipled, uncouth autocrat, but where all the parties on...
